It is situated
in about 100 km in the South of Salzburg.
It
leaves Zell am See's station, where it is in correspondence with the trains
of main lines,
and
regional buses.
It goes up on a
distance of 54 km in the high valley of Salzach river,
until 2 km of
Krimml village.
It
circulates at feet of most high mountains of Austria.
It is a narrow-gauge
railway: space between the 2 rails is 76 cm - said Bosnian track.
It was put in service in 1898. It is constructed single-track.
It is exploited
by Diesel engines,
with
railcars 5090, and locomotives 2095, which pull passenger and goods trains.
In 2013, it is no more
managed by ÖBB (Austrian federal railways) but by Salzburger Land (Salzburg
local government),
it is called Pinzgauer Lokalbahn (local railway of Pinzgau).
It
is also exploited by push/pull trains with Vs80 locomotives.
